Community and cultural groups, schools, sports clubs and other non-government organisations can now apply for a grant to hold an event during this year’s Disability Action Week (13-19 September) or on International Day of People with Disability (3 December).
Grants of up to $5,000 are available for activities that welcome and include people with disability in everyday life. Applications close at midday on Monday 15 June 2015.
Events may promote the rights and wellbeing of people with disability; strengthen how they may access and be included within their community; or encourage mainstream services and the broader community to connect and engage with people with disability.
Events that support communities, local businesses and community services to take up opportunities being presented by the National Disability Insurance Scheme are also encouraged.
Organisations and groups working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and culturally and linguistically diverse people are encouraged to apply.
