On Friday 4th October 2013, the inaugural FEAST took place on Fifth Avenue, Palm Beach.
With the support of Divisional Councillor Daphne McDonald, local traders on Fifth Avenue joined forces to create a street party with a carnival-style atmosphere, and food and entertainment that showcases the multicultural diversity of Palm Beach.
Foodies feasted style alfresco-styledelicious cuisine from local restaurants and cafes, including; Pablo Pablo, Palm Beach Hotel Bistro, Kohinoor Indian Restaurant, My Giddy Aunt, Genki Cafe and Chill In Cafe.
And it wasn’t just visitor’s taste buds that got to celebrate. Headlining on the main stage was fiery flamenco and bohemian singer, Felicity Lawless and her band.
They were supported by the talented local duo, The Altais, whose voices bathed Feast with colourful and infectious folk and pop tunes.
FEAST also had live art demonstrations presented by the Chill In Cafe; Coles cooking demonstrations with celebrity chef Andre Tabet; the Kohinoor Indian Restaurant Belly Dancers, Kizuna Gold Coast Taiko team, and a fashion parade showcasing Bonita Boutiques summer range with hair and make-up provided by 5th Avenue Hair Design and Prima Hair & Beauty respectively.
Thanks to the support of Pavilions, junior ‘feasties’ enjoyed the range of kids’ activities, including face painting, flower arrangement workshops with local Fifth Avenue Florist and balloon artistry. Roving performers added to the atmosphere with their own brand of family fun, including a much-loved pink pig in a red dress andstilt-walkers.
We are looking forward to the next Feast with a date to be announced shortly.
