President’s Report: Palmy Fest

President’s Report: Palmy Fest

Well I’m just starting to feel my feet touch the ground after Palmy Fest last weekend. What an absolutely spectacular inaugural event it turned out to be.

Palmy Fest was a concept for a community event that began in January this year and the committee considered several proposals and venues. Finally, when funding and sponsorship was confirmed the arduous task of planning and organising the event began and over time emerged a clear picture of what this event would look like.

This clear picture was replicated on the day, transforming Rotary Park into a space for all members of the family to enjoy and have fun. And fun they did have with excited children heading straight to Jungle Lane to see farm animals, take pony rides, get their faces painted, get involved in activities and sing and perform with Matty Barker. The kids also ventured to the archery section, the GC Suns inflatable slide and football kicking area and tried their hand in the driver’s seat of the police and bush fire brigade vehicles where the emergency siren could be heard bellowing out at intermittent times throughout the day.

The community was entertained with quality performers including Josh Lovegrove, The Brothers Calling, The Ninth Chapter, Electric Lemonade and Hussy Hicks and not too far away the food vendors offered a great variety delectable delights.

As the president of Palm Beach Promotions I would like to acknowledge and thank some people and organisations for their support and engagement (sorry I can’t mention everyone).

I want to send out a heartfelt thank you for everyone who attended and made it such a successful event.

A great big thank you to Cr Daphne McDonald for her support, input and assistance from inception of Palmy Fest.

Thank you to Hutchinson Builders who confidently contributed towards the event.

Accolades must go to the architect of Palmy Fest, Joanne McLean from Top Notch Productions for her insight, awareness and organisational skills to bring this event to fruition.

Sincere gratitude to all the volunteers who unselfishly put in time and effort from set up to bump out and promptly address issues without any incident.

Special mention to ‘Parky the Sparky’, Adam Parkinson, who identified and resolved some electrical problems in a timely manner to maintain the event schedule.

Many thanks to our community groups who sold sausages, ran raffles and assisted during the day.

Thanks to local businesses for supplying goods and making available the use of their equipment.

Thank you to the Palm Beach Promotion committee for all your tireless work and contribution during preparation and delivery of Palmy Fest.
